KitchenAid is an American home appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation. The company was started in 1919 by The Hobart Manufacturing Company to produce stand mixers; the “H-5” was the first model introduced.

“We have had our K5 A for 39 years. Used some of the cash as wedding gift to buy it. I baked wedding and birthday cakes and had burnt out a couple of other brand “heavy duty” mixers.
We have not had any problems with it. It has made many cakes and lots of butter cream frosting. I use the grinder attachment for small amounts of meat but always careful about not getting it too hot and letting it cool. Best investment ever. I have made bread with it but prefer to knead by hand, I feel that it adds more love.”

“This is an older model Most of the newer models available have a different bowl and would not be conpatible with the older interchageable parts. If you have a legacy unit, perhaps inherited from a family member, scoop this one up. You will not be sorry.
It is the perfect replacement for the same model, purchased over 30 years ago. The original, used several times weekly for home made breads, and family cooking 3 meals a day for 4 hungry athletes and an extended family, finally showed its age by affecting the conventional speed control. I am a trained home economist, having spent my early years in the developmental kitchens of a well know frozen food line, and over 50 years raising my family…”

“My headline sums up my feeling for this mixer. I have had mine for nearly twenty years, adn it has never failed me.I go through times of cooking every day, and times of not cooking at all. When I cook every day, I use this mixer several times a week, if not every day.I have had no problem with bread dough and this machine. I use the capacity limits as stated in the book, and have had flawless results.I have an additional full size bowl, and the 3 quart bowl, as well as the snap-on plastic covers for the large bowls. The bowl covers make a perfect environemnt for raising yeast dough. For me, this mixer has been powerful enough, and I have only rarely wanted the larger KitchenAid mixer. We used to have our family Reunion on Thanksgiving weekend, and I have often mashed fifty or more (yes!) pounds of potatoes (in batches, of course-) and the results have been perfect.I am excited by the recently introduced pasta ROLLER attachement, and plan to purchase it soon.”

“Bought this because of the price point of the kitchenaid pasta pack that is the same but all stainless on the outside and each type of roller item can be stored separately. The first weekend with this item we only used the flat pasta sheet roller to make ravioli, my daughter and I were complete pasta making rookies! At first, it was a pretty good laughable scene and the spaghetti cutter sucked overflowing dough into it! We had a bit of a mess… We kept at it and within a half hour of that mess we were rolling along fairly well. I will say that we removed the plastic white cover and it revealed all the stainless parts beneath and in my opinion makes it easier to see if your dough is about to go wonky.
There are many good tips for making dough out there on the internet and I read many before I began. The next time I made pasta I rolled it out to a 7 thickness because I wanted to use an angel hair attachment I bought that was kitchenaid because no one seems to sell a generic in that but let me say this I accidentally used the spaghetti cutter on here and with that dough rolled so thin it might as well have been angel hair. This has been a fun investment that allows me to continue to manage my ingredients and spend time cooking with my family. Bon appétit”
